We are recruiting Respite Caregivers

Opal families are seeking caregivers to provide respite care for their child or adult dependent with intellectual or physical disabilities.

Responsibilities may include assisting with meal prep, encouraging independence, personal care, life skills building, and recreation. Caregivers must be caring, flexible and open to learning.  If you are interested in being matched with a child, youth, or adult, please contact Jill at 457-9520 or jill@opalfamilyservices.ca and provide your resume, first aid/CPR certificate and references.  The successful applicants will be asked to complete a Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector), and be willing to complete the Department of Social Development Check, have a valid driver’s license.  The hours are flexible and respite can occur in your home, the client’s home, Opal’s respite apartment, or in the community. We do our best to match based on your interests and availability.

Decisions about the hiring of respite caregivers rest with the individual requiring support and their family, with the screening being completed by Opal Family Services.
