Opal families are seeking volunteers to provide respite care for their child or adult dependent with intellectual or physical disabilities.

Responsibilities include assisting with meal prep, encouraging independence, personal care (where applicable), and recreation. Caregivers must be caring, flexible and open to learning.

If you are interested in being matched with a child, youth, or adult, please contact Jill at 457-9520 or jill@opalfamilyservices.ca and provide your resume, first aid/CPR certificate and references.

Volunteers will be asked to complete a Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector), and must be willing to complete the Department of Social Development Check.  The hours are flexible and respite can occur in your home, the client’s home, Opal’s respite apartment, or in the community. We do our best to match based on your interests and availability.
